DRYING (verb)

 

Any action that removes water from a substance. This could involve heating a solid in an oven at a temperature above 100°C, or rinsing a solid with ethanol to remove the water, or adding a dehydrating agent, such as NaSO₄, to an organic liquid to remove residual water.
