Curtis P. Berlinguette

PROFESSOR OF CHEMISTRY AND CHEMICAL & BIOLOGICAL ENGINEERING

PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR, STEWART BLUSSON QUANTUM MATTER INSTITUTE

CIFAR FELLOW

FELLOW OF THE ROYAL SOCIETY OF CHEMISTRY

Professor Curtis P. Berlinguette leads an interdisciplinary team designing and building electrochemical reactors to power the planet. Dr. Berlinguette is a Distinguished University Scholar at the University of British Columbia, where he is a Professor of Chemistry and Chemical & Biological Engineering. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, CIFAR Co-Director for Accelerated Decarbonization, and Principal Investigator at the Stewart Blusson Quantum Matter Institute. His academic group has advanced a range of clean energy applications, including reactive COcapture, advancing carbon neutral building materials, electrification of the chemical industry, and advanced nuclear fusion. His team has also pioneered the use of flexible automation and machine learning to build self-driving labs to accelerate materials research. Dr. Berlinguette’s contributions have been recognized through numerous awards, including an Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellowship and an NSERC E.W.R. Steacie Memorial Fellowship. He is also the founder of Miru (energy-efficient windows) and Sora Fuel (carbon-neutral aviation fuels).
