Caitlyn Grypma, PhD candidate

Hi, I'm Caitlyn Grypma. Prior to coming to UBC I did my undergraduate Chemistry Honours degree at Trinity Western University in Langley BC. This education gave me a love and excitement for Chemistry, and for learning new things about the world around me. I hope to use what I learn in my graduate studies here at UBC to make a positive difference in the world.

Yueyang Li, PhD candidate

Hi, my name is Yueyang Li. I joined the Chen group in 2018 after completing my B.S. in Chemistry at Nanjing Normal University. I am excited to join the Chen group so that I can learn more about separation chemistry and apply that knowledge to finding more potential biomarkers in biological samples. When I'm not working I like to hike and read.

Siyu Miao, PhD candidate

Hi, my name is Siyu Miao. I graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2019 and joined Chen’s group as a PhD student in Jan. 2020.

Jiahua Tan, PhD candidate

Hi, my name is Jiahua Tan. I obtained my Bachelor of Science in chemistry at Nankai University and joined Chen's group in 2020 as a Ph.D. student. I am interested in CE-MS based metabolomics research and especially in its data processing. I hope to learn more about CE-MS and metabolomics, and improve experimental and data processing techniques to better investigate biological samples.

Jenny Zhong, PhD candidate

Hi, my name is Jenny. I joined the Chen group in September 2020 after obtaining my B.Sc. in Chemical Biology at UBC in May 2020. I’m excited to learn about separation chemistry and using metabolomics methods to analyze biological samples. In my spare time, I like to read and play/listen to music.

Chau Nguyen, PhD student

Hi, my name is Chau Nguyen. I joined Chen's group in 2021 as a Ph.D. student after obtaining my Master of Science in Forensic Chemistry at Indiana University - Purdue University, Indianapolis. With an interest in analytical chemistry, I'm eager to learn more about the use of CE-MS and other analytical tools in the field of metabolomics through my research.
